INTRODUCTION
Welcome to My Journey into the Wild
An introduction to the field journal — and why I photograph the wild.
04 AUGUST 2026
Welcome, and thank you for visiting.
This website is a collection of moments gathered over years of exploring forests, wetlands, mountains, and open plains in search of wildlife. Every photograph you see here represents far more than the press of a shutter. Behind each image lies patience, perseverance, early mornings, changing weather, long journeys, and, above all, the privilege of witnessing wild animals in their natural habitats.
Wildlife photography has taught me that the most memorable encounters are not always the dramatic ones. More often, they are found in a quiet glance between a mother and her young, the intricate beauty of a tiny insect, the silent watchfulness of an owl at dusk, or the fleeting moment when light transforms an ordinary scene into something extraordinary. These are the moments that continue to inspire me every time I venture into the wild.
Through this website, I hope to share not only the photographs themselves, but also the stories behind them. In future blog posts, I’ll take you behind the lens to recount memorable encounters, explain how certain images came together, share lessons learned in the field, and introduce the remarkable animals and habitats that make our natural world so extraordinary.
Many of the species featured on this website come from Southeast Asia, with a special focus on Malaysia. Blessed with some of the oldest tropical rainforests on Earth, Malaysia is one of the world’s great biodiversity hotspots, home to an astonishing variety of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects, and plant life. From the dense jungles of Borneo and Peninsular Malaysia to mangrove forests, rivers, and coastal wetlands, these ecosystems support an incredible diversity of life, much of which remains unfamiliar to people beyond this region. Through my photographs, I hope to celebrate the beauty, behaviour, and uniqueness of these species while sharing the remarkable natural heritage that Southeast Asia has to offer.
Many of the animals featured here are vulnerable, endangered, or critically endangered. Habitat loss, poaching, climate change, and increasing human encroachment continue to threaten their survival. While a single photograph cannot change the world, it can inspire appreciation, spark curiosity, and encourage a deeper connection with nature. If these images help even one person see wildlife not simply as subjects to be photographed, but as living treasures worthy of protection, then they will have achieved something far more meaningful.
Whether you are a fellow photographer, a wildlife enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of the natural world, I hope you find inspiration, wonder, and perhaps a greater appreciation for the extraordinary creatures with whom we share this planet.
Thank you for joining me at the beginning of this journey. I invite you to return often as I continue to share new photographs, stories from the field, and the unforgettable encounters that remind me why protecting our natural world has never been more important.
The wild always has another story waiting to be told.
